Bear Sighting Near Battleview Orchards

A black bear was spotted earlier today at Route 33 and Wemrock Road, police said.

Freehold Township Police Sgt. Scott Hall saw the bear walking around near the area of Battleview Orchards and walk back into the woods. State game wardens were notified, Sgt. Jerry Kiwit said. 

It was the second time in recent months a bear has been seen in that area, Kiwit said.

If you encounter a bear, do not approach it and call police immediately, Kiwit said.
