Cecilian Music Club Co-Sponsors Boris Berman Piano Concert
Boris Berman will perform Haydn and Prokofiev at a classical piano concert October 14th, 4 pm, at UUCMC in Lincroft.

What do Franz Joseph
Haydn and Sergei Prokofiev have in common? They share a love for wit
and whimsy, for beautiful melodies and unexpected rhythms. But the
harmonic language they use is strikingly different. Come see – and
hear – for yourself when Boris Berman, head of the Piano Department
at Yale School of Music, performs Haydn piano sonatas Nos. 50, 51,
and 52, and Prokofiev's sonatas Nos. 7 and 9, at the Unitarian
Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1475 West Front Street,
in Lincroft, NJ. The concert will begin at 4 pm on Sunday, October
14th. Tickets for
adults are $15, seniors will pay $10, and students are only $5.
Boris Berman was born in
Moscow, and studied at the Moscow Conservatory. He has been a guest
soloist with several orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic
and the Moscow Chamber Orchestras, and has appeared in numerous
concerts around the world. His recordings include Scriabin, Debussy,
and Stravinsky; he was the first to record the complete solo works of
Prokofiev. He is also the author of two books - “Notes from the
Pianist's Bench,” and “Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas: A Guide for the
Listener and the Performer.” A complete list of his performances
and discography can be found at www.borisberman.com.
