Change of Jackson Street Bus Stop Zone Ensures Safety
According to the resolution, the bus stop zone will be moved from the southerly curb line of Jackson Street to the northerly curb line of Jackson Street.

A Jackson Street bus stop zone has been changed to the other side of the street in order to ensure the safety of Freehold Borough residents.
At the Monday, April 1 Freehold Borough Council meeting, the council unanimously agreed to pass a resolution that would move the Jackson Street bus stop across the street, closer to Zlotkin circle.
“A couple of months ago a few people came up and complained about a bus stop on the corner of Main and Jackson Street, and they were right. We ended up asking the state to move it across the street, closer to Zlotkin circle and they did,” explained Councilman George Schnurr. “It made a lot of sense all the way around and we managed to get the State to agree to do this.”

According to the resolution, the bus stop zone was originally alongside Main Street, northbound on the easterly side of Jackson Street. It began at the southerly curb line of Jackson Street and extended 105-feet south of there. The new bus stop zone will still be along Main Street northbound on the easterly side of Jackson Street, but the curb line will now be on the far side of Jackson, beginning at the northerly curb line and extending 100 feet north from there.
“It is just safer where we are going to put it,” said Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer. “It was a definite safety hazard where it was.”
