Downtown Freehold Opens Drive-In Movie Theater
The outdoor theater will screen a new feature film every Tuesday and Wednesday night in the Freehold Raceway parking lot.
FREEHOLD, NJ – Following in the footsteps of northern neighbors Cranford and Millburn, downtown Freehold unveiled its Starlight Drive-In Movie nights last week, bringing the big screen to Freehold Raceway parking lot. The outdoor theater is slated to screen a new flick every Tuesday and Wednesday night.
The socially distant summer movie spot opened on July 14 and 15 with screenings of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”. Next week’s slot will feature 1992 cult comedy “A League of Their Own”.
Reservations are required for entry, with a $5 fee charged for each car. However, each purchase will entitle ticket holders to a $5 gift certificate to select downtown eateries. Arrivals will be permitted one hour prior before showtime, with each film starting at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). Sound will be provided via FM radio.
