FREEHOLD, NJ – July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day.
We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening around Howell so you can start planning now.

What: Freehold Independence Day Concert and Fireworks

When: Wednesday, July 3
Here are updated details on the concert and fireworks from borough officials: Gates open at 6 p.m. and will feature live music by the Rock 'n Roll Chorus at 6:30 p.m., followed by Daddy Pop from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Freehold native Kason Jackson will again sing "The Star Spangled Banner," immediately followed by the fireworks.
As part of Freehold Borough’s Centennial Celebration, free inflatable games and entertainment will be provided. Radio Station WJRZ and sister station WRAT will be on hand to provide patriotic music during the fireworks. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
New event this year is the KIDZONE, with bouncy rides, games, face painting, and costume characters for photographs.
As a safety precaution, no backpacks, coolers, or pets will be permitted, and bags are subject to search. Residents and visitors are encouraged to check the Freehold Borough website for up-to-the-minute information on cancellations due to inclement weather or high wind conditions. Rain date for the event is Sunday, July 7th.
Borough officials said the fireworks are made possible by Freehold Borough, Downtown Freehold, Freehold Raceway Mall, and by the generous support of sponsors, including Freehold Raceway.

What: Freehold Borough Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Where: On the steps at Borough Hall, 51 West Main St.
When: Thursday, July 4 at 9 a.m.
Arrive between 8 and 8:30 a.m. if you would like to read part of the Declaration of Independence to honor the birth of the United States.
What: Oceanfest
Where: Ocean Promenade, Long Branch
When: Thursday, July 4
The family-friendly event will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It features food vendors, crafters, entertainers, dancers, sand sculptures and a spectacular fireworks display. Fireworks start at 9 p.m.
