Freehold Borough Plans to Adopt Tentative Budget
The Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) will take state funding numbers into consideration before adopting tentative budget Monday, March 4.

The Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) plans to adopt their tentative 2013-2014 school year budget on Monday, March 4.
, giving school districts a more accurate picture of what next year's budget will look like. From those numbers, Freehold Borough schools learned that they would be receiving more aid than last year.
According to a press release from Monmouth County Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, the news from the Christie Administration about additional funding coming to 11th district schools was well received.

“I have been battling for Districts like Freehold Borough and Red Bank that has seen increased enrollment but were funded more than 30-percent below the State’s adequacy standard,” said Casagrande in the press release. “Those districts will now finally receive the money they need in the proposed budget.”
According to the press release, Freehold Borough will now receive an additional $435,142, a 4.7-percent increase from last year.

“This money will go a long way to helping the children who have been impacted by cuts in programs and crowded classrooms,” said Casagrande. “Over the years we have worked with Governor Christie and Commissioner Cerf to help these schools. I am grateful that the Christie Administration has responded and showed their commitment to these needy Districts in Monmouth County.”
The Freehold Borough BOE will take the state funding numbers into consideration before adopting the tentative budget at the March 4 meeting. The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Park Avenue Elementary School cafeteria.
