Freehold Family-Owned Store Robbed Of $17K In Merchandise Monday

FREEHOLD, NJ - A landscaping supply store on the border of Freehold and Howell was robbed Monday night of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, according to owners.

Barg's Lawn and Garden, located at 876 Highway 33, saw at least three masked culprits take chainsaws and pole pruners from shelves worth about $17,000 in total, according to security footage posted by the store. A list of over a dozen stolen items was later posted to social media.

The alarm system was triggered around 2:30 a.m., although the subjects had fled the scene by the time authorities arrived.

According to the store’s Facebook page, the culprits left in a Ford Expedition.

Barg’s has been a home landscaping staple in the region since 1954, offering parts and accessories from brands such as Kawasaki, Kohler and Toro.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Det. Hurley at the Howell Township Police Department at (732) 938-4575. Barg’s Lawn and Garden is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests.
