FREEHOLD, NJ — If you're wondering what's happening to celebrate the Fourth of July in Freehold and around the area, here's when and where you can expect to see fireworks (weather permitting, of course).
In Freehold, there will be an Independence Day concert and fireworks at Freehold Raceway on Tuesday, July 3. (There is a raindate of July 8.) The gates will open at 6 p.m. and there will be live music provided by Mission Dance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Radio stations WRAT and WJRZ will provide music for the fireworks. Food vendors will be on hand.

On July 4, the borough will host the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence on the steps at Borough Hall. The reading begins at 9 a.m.
Since Freehold's fireworks aren't on July 4th, that means there are options for those who want to watch the bombs bursting in air on the Fourth as well. Take a look below; the celebrations are in date order. And there are some other events you might find interesting as well.

In Toms River, Celebrate America! with the Garden State Philharmonic in Toms River
Ocean County Library, Washington Street, Toms River
7 p.m. outside the library. Celebrate Independence Day with the Garden State Philharmonic Orchestra and the GSP Community Chorus. Since the 1960s, this annual concert has elevated July 4th festivities with music. Bring your own chair and sit anywhere for this outdoor concert. Part of the Ocean County Parks & Recreation's Carousel of Music Series.
