Freehold Man Assaulted Officers, Resisted Arrest, Manalapan Police Say

An attempted burglary on Old Queens Boulevard also included in this week's blotter.

The following is a list of crimes and incidents reported in Manalapan between March 9 and March 15. The police blotter is provided directly by the Manalapan Township Police Department and is reproduced here, unedited. Minor incidents such as warrant arrests have been omitted.

Fraud

On Saturday, March 15, 2014 at approximately 10:10am, a 70-year-old white male Manalapan resident reported a fraudulent charge to an online account.  The victim related unknown actor(s) charged $246.11 against his account.  Ptl. Brian Schank handled this incident.

On Friday March 14, 2014 at approximately 12:15 PM a Manalapan resident reported fraudulent charges against his TD Bank account. The subject related an unknown actor(s) charged $149.95 dollars against his account using an automated check on March 3, 2014.  Ptl. Mattaliano handled the incident.

On March 13, 2014 at 4:00PM, Ptl. DeFilippis responded to police headquarters for a theft report. A 49 year old, white, female, of Manalapan related unknown actor(s) removed a necklace valued at $250.00 from her residence. This incident occurred sometime between 02/15/14 and 02/22/14. 

Attempted Burglary

On Thursday March 13th at 12:39pm officers responded to an Old Queens Blvd address for a reported attempted burglary.  Victim, a 70 y/o white male, Manalapan resident reported that an unknown subject attempted to enter his residence through a rear garage door.  The door was found slightly open with the door frame damaged.  Entry into the residence or garage was not gained. This incident was handled by Officer Ross Dessel. 

Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest

On Wednesday March 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM Ptl. Mazzatto, Ptl, Kelly, Ptl.Kreizman, Ptl. Makwinski and Special Officer McCarthy responded to 10 Orchard Lane for a medical screener requesting Carter Frew, a 20 year old unemployed white male from Freehold, to be transported to Centre State for an evaluation.  When he was walking to the patrol car to be transported to the hospital, he ran on foot from police. Ptl. Makwinski pursued the subject into the woods.  Officers caught up with Carter where he assaulted the officers and resisted their control and arrest.  Carter was eventually arrested and charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.  He was remanded to MCCI in lieu of $5000.00 bail.  This incident is pending court.   Ptl. Makwinski handled the arrest. 

 

Bad Checks

 

On 03/11/2014 a business owner on Gordon’s Corner Road reported receiving a bad check. The suspect is a customer who bought bus tickets and wrote a check with insufficient funds. The business owner filed complaints with Manalapan Township Municipal Court. Ptl. Chris Makwinski handled the report. 

 

Theft

 

On 03-11-14 at 4:37pm a resident of Amberly Drive responded to this agency to report fraudulent activity on her bank account.  Unknown actor(s) made three unauthorized transactions totaling $617.87.  Ptl. Gallo is handling the investigation.  

Theft

On Monday March 10, 2014 at approximately 2:00 PM the Property Manager of the Renaissance development reported that two brass vacuum breaker valves for irrigation were stolen from the property.  This case is currently pending further investigation.  Patrolman Chris Makwinski handled the report.

Fraud

On Monday March 10, 2014 at approximately 1:00 PM, a 54-year-old white male Manalapan resident reported fraudulent charges on his Kohls credit card. The subject related that an unknown actor ordered $119.99 worth of merchandise from Kohls and had the order sent to a Maryland address. Ptl. Chris Makwinski handled the incident.
