Freehold Memorial Day Parade 2021: Starting Time, Route

The 147th annual parade is set to feature military units, bands, fire departments, floats and more. Here's how you can attend:

FREEHOLD, NJ - After more than a year of holiday and festival cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic, one of Monmouth County's largest and widely celebrated festivals has been given the green light to recommence in 2021.

The 147th Freehold Memorial Day Parade is slated to take place on Monday, May 31, according to an announcement from Downtown Freehold. In what serves as the oldest and largest such parade in Western Monmouth County according to its website, the parade touts an average of more than 70 units participating each year and features military units, veterans groups, bands, fire departments, EMS squads, youth groups, custom designed floats and civilian units.

The parade route is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Brinckerhoff Avenue and travel down Main Street to make a left onto Route 79. The parade will then make a left onto Murry Street, a left onto Schanck Road and a right onto Court Street, commencing at the Court House.

The parade route and surrounding streets will be closed starting at 8 a.m. to prepare for the Elks Point Service. Streets will remain closed for the duration of the parade until around noon.

Once the streets are closed, no one will be permitted to go through the barricades. Motorists are asked to plan alternate routes accordingly.
