Freehold Twp. Trio Sign Sports Scholarship Offers

The three signed letters of intent on the national signing day for swimming, baseball and lacrosse.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three Freehold Township seniors have finalized their college commitments, signing national letters of intent on the fall signing day.

Veronica Sowinski, Ryan Ford and Cai Martin inked their letters on Nov. 8, the signing day for spring sports.

Sowinski accepted a scholarship to swim at Iona College in New York. She told the Freehold Township student newspaper that she plans to major in business. According to NJ.com, she has a personal high school career best of 1:04.40 in the 100 backstroke.

Ford is a third baseman and pitcher and signed to play baseball at Penn State University. For the Patriots, he has a career batting average of .543 with 4 home runs in 35 plate appearances. He holds a career ERA of 1.84 with 17 strikeouts and 411 pitches thrown, according to NJ.com.

Martin accepted a lacrosse scholarship to Ohio State. The defender, has 110 career points for the Patriots, according to NJ.com, including 60 goals during her junior season.
