Freehold's Ramiz Chosen By Seattle Mariners In MLB Draft

Ryan Ramiz, a senior at Seton Hall University who also starred at CBA, will have the opportunity to pursue a baseball career a bit longer.

FREEHOLD, NJ — Freehold resident Ryan Ramiz, who starred for both the Christian Brothers Academy and Seton Hall baseball teams, will get to chase his baseball dreams at the next level, after the center fielder was drafted bythe Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.

Ramiz was drafted by the Mariners with the 688th selection in the 23rd round of the draft. He was a unanimous All-Big East first feam selection this year and an All-Big East second team selection in 2017, according the Seton Hall baseball team website.

The left-handed hitter batted .316 with 13 doubles, 32 RBI and a nine-game hit streak this season for Seton Hall, which reached the championship of the Big East Tournament. One of only four unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team, Ramiz capped his stellar four-year career ranked among Seton Hall's top-10 in games played, at bats, triples and walks.

At CBA, he was a three-year letterwinner and was the Colts' captain his senior year.
