Howell's Newbury School Honors Troops
Fundraising drive to help nonprofit organization benefitting returning soldiers

Howell's Newbury School honored Memorial Day and the men and women who have died defending our country by raising money for military veterans and their families, school officials said.
Teachers and students on Thursday took part in the 4th annual “Jeans For Troops” fundraising drive benefitting the "GI Go Fund," a nonprofit organization that helps veterans returning home find employment, go to college, access their healthcare and financial benefits, and link to housing, according to a school release.
During the drive Newbury School gave their employees and students the opportunity to wear jeans to work in exchange for a donation, the release says

Also, Albert Perdeck, a WWII veteran, spoke to fourth and fifth grade students about his experience in the war and the importance of honoring the American flag.
Perdeck, 88, displayed photographs of the ship he served on, the U.S.S. Bunker, his original Navy uniform, and several versions of “Old Glory.”
