FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Monmouth County Fair now is closed for Wednesday night, due to the soggy conditions caused by the heavy rain that fell earlier in the day.

The opening of the five-day fair was to include fireworks. Those had been canceled earlier due to the wet conditions, Monmouth County officials said Wednesday afternoon.

The Firemen's Competition has also been canceled, officials said.
