Newark Resident Accused of Shoplifting Designer Handbags

Freehold Township Police charged a Newark woman with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to steal designer handbags from a Freehold Raceway Mall department store.

Coulette K. Stokes, 46, of Holiday Court is accused of trying to take two Michael Kors handbags from Lord & Taylor on Wednesday, Jan. 23. According to Stoke’s complaint warrant, she concealed the bags under her dress. Together, the bags totaled $676.

Stokes has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $5,000 bail.
