A Freehold man over the weekend finally had had enough of a life without Sparkles, according to authorities.
So on Saturday David Belcher took Sparkles -- a dog that did not belong to him -- from the dog's home on Sheriff's Street and brought the animal to his Conover St. home as if it was his own pet, according to an arrest warrant.
Belcher, 51, was arrested and charged Saturday with one count of third degree theft, according to the warrant.
