TELL US: Does the Rt. 527/Rt. 537 Intersection Need Improvement?

The intersection of Rt. 527 and Rt. 537 will undergo improvements this summer due to the high capacity of cars during peak hours, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The intersection of Rt. 537 and Rt. 527 will undergo some major renovations this summer.

The five month project will add a traffic signal, widen the intersection, add traffic lanes, and improve drainage, according to County Engineer Joseph M. Ettore, the Press reported.

According to the Asbury Park Press, a contract was awarded to DeFino Contracting Company of Old Bridge for the project at the last Monmouth County Board of Freeholders meeting.

The reason the intersection needs improvement is because the amount of traffic at the intersection during peak hours currently exceeds the design capacity for the intersection, Ettore said, according to the Press. Ettore also said, according to the press, that 25 accidents have been recorded at the intersection over the past three years.

The intersection of Rt. 527 and Rt. 537 borders , and Millstone Township.

A 2.8-mile section of County Route 537 from Gravel Hill Road to State Highway 33 Business will also go through a major overhaul in the near future. for details on this project.
