Two Freehold Residents Named Master Gardeners
Nineteen Monmouth County residents became certified Master Gardeners at a graduation ceremony at Hominy Hill Golf Center.
Nineteen more Monmouth County citizens have gotten their green thumbs by becoming Master Gardeners.
Joanne Bujalski and Jan Mawson of Freehold were amongst the 2012 graduating class of Master Gardeners and were both acknowledged for having over 100 hours of service. A total of nineteen area residents graduated on Jan. 23 at a ceremony at Hominy Hill Golf Center in Colts Neck.
According to a press release from Monmouth County, the path to becoming a Master Gardener requires taking courses of classroom and hands-on training in plant biology, propagation. Soil science and pest control. As a Master Gardener, graduates are now considered certified gardening experts.

In addition to the two Freehold graduates, veteran Master Gardeners was also recognized for milestone achievements.
- Len Yoder – 100-hour milestone and 250-hour milestone
- Carol Farber – 500-hour milestone
- Carolyn Heuser – 1,000-hour milestone
- Wally Seeley – 1,000-hour milestone
- Linda Balzer – 1,500-hour milestone
