Video Shows Bruce Springsteen In 'His Hometown:' Freehold

FREEHOLD – He sang about "My Hometown," and how the past has left it. But Bruce Springsteen never left it.

The "Boss" was back in Freehold on Saturday, joining his pal Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers at the grand opening party for the "Springsteen: His Hometown" exhibit at the Monmouth County Historical Society in Freehold.

Springsteen, who turned 70 this past week, performed “Light of Day” before leaving to see his daughter at an equestrian event in New York City.

"I can't stay long. I've got my family in the city. But I wanted to just come down to thank everybody for supporting," Springsteen told the cheering crowd.

The exhibit opened Sunday and will be available on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 5 and Thursday 11 to 8

The exhibit provides a comprehensive look at how Monmouth County has been "thematically woven into Bruce Springsteen’s music and art throughout his career," the society says.

“Springsteen: His Hometown” displays over 150 items featuring selections from both the Monmouth County Historical Association and The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University.
