The Women Of Impact Jersey Coast Are Seeking 2021 Members

The women of Impact 100 Jersey Coast are well under way with their 2021 Membership Drive. Over the course of the next 4 weeks the woman’s grantmaking circle will be hosting “Wednesdays with Impact,” a series of 45-minute interactive Zoom events where women can meet other members and learn more about Impact and the projects they’ve funded here in Monmouth County over the past 5 years.

Impact 100’s mission is to award membership-funded grants to local nonprofit organizations, enabling them to strengthen or expand their services, while empowering women to improve lives through philanthropy. Since its founding in 2015 the women of Impact Jersey Coast have awarded more than $1.6 million to 14 Monmouth County nonprofits.

The concept is simple. Any woman is eligible to become a member of Impact 100 Jersey Coast. Each member makes an annual tax-deductible donation which is pooled together to award six-figure grants to local nonprofits.

The grant process is simple as well. Local nonprofits submit applications for a proposed project or program in early June. Member-run committees review the projects to select finalists who will present to the entire membership at the Annual Meeting in November. Each woman has a single and equal vote on which organizations will receive funding each year.

“In our first 5 years we’ve funded projects addressing domestic abuse, homelessness, teen mental health, and Alzheimer’s disease. Our collective dollars have helped innovative nonprofit organizations develop music and technology youth programs, advocate for foster children, alleviate hunger, and secure employment for people with disabilities. And when the pandemic hit our state, Impact 100 Jersey Coast participated in the relief effort by donating $17,650 to the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund for COVID-19-related needs,” said Impact President Deirdre Spiropoulos. The more members we have, the more grants we can award, and the more lives we will impact,” said Lori Missig, Impact Jersey Coast Membership Chair.

When asked why she joined, Anne Clark, resident of Freehold, summed it up as: “I joined Impact 100 to learn and help local non-profits doing great things. My small contribution to Impact 100 allows me to help these non-profits in a big and powerful way that I couldn’t have done independently. Impressed by the leadership of professional women who run this organization, I quickly decided to become more than a financial contributor but really learn the process of grant selection. This allowed me to take a deep dive into these incredible local non-profits right here in Monmouth County. I find this most interesting and inspiring. The deadline to join for the 2021 membership class is March 15th. Impact also awards a number of scholarships each year for membership.
