GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Seventeen Highland Regional High School football players were reportedly suspended ahead of Friday night’s game against Burlington Township due to a fight that was caught on video.

Four Tartans were kicked off the squad due to an incident that happened a week earlier, the Courier Post reports. School officials confirmed the suspensions to the newspaper, but no further reason was given.

The incident centered around a video that was posted on social media, but it wasn’t clear how many people were involved in the fight, or where the video was posted, according to the report.

Star running back Johnny Martin was among those who were suspended. The junior’s potential college destinations include Baylor, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple and West Virginia, according to 247 Sports. He has 121 carries for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, according to nj.com.

Highland lost to Burlington Township, 14-7,as the team fell for just the second time this season. The playoff cutoff date is next week.

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District included Highland, Timber Creek and Triton high schools. A representative from the district wasn't immediately available for comment Sunday evening.
