U.S. Marshals Find Camden County Teen Who Shot Man: Prosecutor

The fugitive task force found the suspect 4 days after the Camden County shooting, authorities said.

SOMERDALE, NJ — A fugitive task force took a Camden County teen into custody Monday — days after he shot a man — according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. The victim was hospitalized after Thursday's shooting in Somerdale but has been released, authorities said.

A reported shooting brought multiple police agencies to the 400 block of the White Horse Pike at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The victim — a 32-year-old Lawnside man — arrived by vehicle to Cooper University Hospital, officials said.

Nicholas Stiegler, 18, of Lawnside was charged Thursday following an investigation from local and county law enforcement. Stiegler was charged with the following:

  • aggravated assault (second-degree)
  • unlawful possession of a weapon (second-degree)
  • possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (second-degree)
  • aggravated assault for pointing a firearm (fourth-degree)

Authorities found Stiegler on Monday in Pine Hill. The U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force took him into custody. The Somerdale Police Department processed Stiegler and placed him in the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending his detention hearing.
