2 Sunday Shootings On South Jersey Highways Under Investigation

Police are investigating two shootings on South Jersey highways that happened over a 12-hour span Sunday.

VINELAND, NJ — Hours before a man was shot while driving on Interstate 295 (I-295) in Camden County on Sunday, there was another shooting on a different South Jersey highway, according to New Jersey State Police.

This one took place on Route 55 in Vineland just before 1 a.m., as part of a road rage incident that lasted for several miles, police said.

The driver of an unidentified white SUV fired two shots at a Ford F-150 that was approaching Exit 35, according to police.

The SUV, driven by a man with a female passenger, then fled the scene, continuing south on Route 55, police said.

About 12 hours later, there was another shooting on a state highway, this one involving a 42-year-old man who was shot at on I-295 in Bellmawr. The man who was shot in that incident was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his hand. Read more here: Man Shot While Driving On I-295 In Camden County
