GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — More than 2,000 appointments are available at Camden County's COVID-19 vaccination center for this week, county officials announced Monday morning.

The vaccination site at 200 College Drive in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township is operated by the county in partnership with Cooper University Health Care and Jefferson Health-New Jersey. It has provided more than 85,000 vaccinations to date, according to officials.

“If you are still looking for an appointment, now is the time to get vaccinated at the Camden County Vaccination Clinic on the campus of Camden County College,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Over the last two weeks, we have watched our capacity grow and our vaccine allocation expand, so we can vaccinate as many people as possible. Last week we provided more than 16,000 doses to residents and our hope is to continue this mass vaccination program until we reach herd immunity. This is the only way we can get our county, state and nation back to normal and leave the pandemic in the rearview mirror. In short, get your appointment scheduled today.”

There are between 300,000 and 330,000 adults in the county, and it is estimated that between 70 percent and 80 percent of adults must be vaccinated to reach herd immunity, Camden County Assistant Public Health Coordinator Caryelle Lasher said during a news conference on Monday.

"We need every adult to get vaccinated to make up for the kids who can't get vaccinated right now," Lasher said.

As of Monday, 45,129 Camden County residents have tested positive for the coronavirus and 1,135 residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began more than a year ago.

An additional 475 positive cases were announced on Monday for the period between April 10 and 12. Trace investigations are underway in all cases. The coronavirus has mostly been infecting residents between 18 and 20 years old, with the average age of new infections impacting residents in their 30s.

“We are getting closer to beating this virus every day, but we can only get there if we continue to work to protect one another and get vaccinated when it’s our turn,” Cappelli said. “With cases on the rise again, now is not the time to let our guard down. Please continue to stay informed and join us for the latest updates regarding COVID-19 cases and the vaccine rollout.”
