5 Candidates Applied For Open Black Horse Pike School Board Seat

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Five candidates have filed applications for the vacant seat representing Gloucester Township on the Black Horse Pike Regional School District Board of Education, according to school officials.

The board of education will interview the candidates at its board meeting on Jan. 28 at Triton Regional High School, 250 Schubert Avenue in Runnemede. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

  • Linda Gilch;
  • Michael Gregory White, Sr.;
  • Matthew Jefferson;
  • Venise Grossmann; and
  • Wendy Witzel.

The seat previously belonged to Dawn Leary, according to Superintendent of Schools Brian Repici. Whoever the board selects to fill the vacancy will serve through the board's reorganization meeting in January 2022, according to the district website. They can run in November's election for the seat if they choose.

Seven seats on the school board are allocated to Gloucester Township residents. The other seats allocated to represent the township are currently occupied by Board Vice President Jay McMillian, Kevin Bucceroni, Joyce Ellis, Kaitlyn Hutchison, Kevin McElroy and Jennifer Storer.

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District oversees three high schools serving students in Gloucester Township, Bellmawr and Runnemede. In addition to Triton, Highland and Timber Creek regional high schools are in the district.
