Avoid These Gloucester Township Roads Amid Tornado Watch: Police

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township police are warning residents to stay safe amid a Tornado Watch that stretches across New Jersey. Police posted an image online from 2011 of a flash flood in which a car got stuck on Somerdale Road.

"Other areas like Church Street, Good Intent Road, and Chews Landing by Lower Landing Roads are all prone to dangerous flash flooding," police said in the statement, which comes as a Tornado Watch has been issued for much of the state.Read more here: Tornado Watch Across NJ As Tropical Storm Isaias Nears

Police remind residents to be extra cautious if they have to drive and while at home and remember:

• Water on the roadways may be deeper than it looks. Don’t risk driving through a flooded roadway.
• Do not approach downed tree limbs or wires that are blocking roadways or near you home. The wires may still be live. Call 9-1-1 for properly trained responders to assess the situation and take action as necessary, including securing the area and notifying utility companies.
• Do not go past/ drive around caution tape, traffic cones or barricades.
