Former Timber Creek standout Damiere Byrd registered one catch for 13 yards in South Carolina's season-opening win over Vanderbilt Thursday night.
Byrd, a sophomore wide receiver, matched his freshman total for catches in the Gamecocks' 17-13 road win over their SEC rival.
South Carolina is ranked No. 9 in the AP and USA Today polls.

The Gamecocks were led in the win over Vandy by running back Marcus Lattimore, who gained 110 yards on 23 carries, with two touchdowns.
Byrd, who had just one catch as a freshman, expects to contribute much more to the Gamecocks' offense this season, according to a report by The Post and Courier of Charleston, SC.

Byrd's first catch of the season came with about 3 minutes to play in the first quarter, when quarterback Connor hit him for a first down on 2nd and 10.
