Camden County Issues 'Code Blue' Warning Ahead Of Cold Weather

Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 21 degrees on Tuesday night in Camden County.

CAMEDEN COUNTY, NJ — With below-freezing temperatures expected in the nights ahead, Camden County on Monday issued a "Code Blue" warning, reminding residents to seek warm shelter and bring pets inside.

The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures will drop to around 30 degrees on Monday night and 21 degrees on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing on Wednesday as rain enters the forecast.

The county has also prepared a cold-weather response for homeless populations. For assistance, residents should call 211 and speak with their local municipality regarding shelter. Warming centers are available in Camden County during the "Code Blue" warning.

Residents are also reminded to provide a warm outdoor or indoor space for pets, as well as easy access to clean, unfrozen water.

The county also reminded residents pets paws can pick up rock salt, ice and chemicals in foot pads when outdoors in the winter. Putting petroleum jelly on paws before going outside helps protect pets from salt and chemicals, and wiping paws with towels once back inside helps prevent chapped paws.
