Child Nearly Drowns in Inflatable Pool

The 1-year-old was in stable condition when she arrived at Cooper University Hospital.

A toddler was taken to Cooper University Hospital Tuesday morning after nearly drowning in an inflatable pool at a Blackwood home, according to police.

Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to a home on Glamis Road, off Erial Road near Charles W. Lewis Middle School, at 10:33 a.m. on a report of a 1 1/2-year-old girl drowning in the small pool, according to Deputy Chief David Harkins.

Arriving officers found residents performing CPR on the toddler, and were able to revive the young girl, who was taken by ambulance to the Camden hospital.

The girl was reported to be conscious and in stable condition by the time she reached Cooper, Harkins said.

The toddler and her mother were visiting friends at the Glamis Road home Tuesday morning, according to police.

A 3-year-old girl died after drowning in a pool in nearby Winslow Township Saturday night, the Courier-Post reported.
