Cooper Hospital Digestive Institute Earns Flame Award

​Cooper University Health Care's Digestive Health Institute has received the 2021 Flame Award for Unit Excellence.

Cooper University Health Care’s Digestive Health Institute has received the 2021 Flame Award for Unit Excellence from the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), the health system announced.

The award recognizes units for their commitment to infection prevention, providing a supportive and educational work environment for staff, and achieving positive patient outcomes.

“We are honored to be recognized by the SGNA, which attests to our staff’s commitment to continuous performance improvement to provide our patients with the highest level of care and safety,” Cooper Digestive Health Institute Director of Operations Jeanne Greer, RN, said.

Criteria for the Flame Award includes the number of staff who have received advanced training, certification, and continuing education opportunities to advance the practice of gastroenterology nursing resulting in better patient care and outcomes.

The Cooper Digestive Health Institute provides the latest diagnostic procedures and treatment options for patients with disorders of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, and related digestive issues. It has offices in Mount Laurel, Willingboro, Cherry Hill, and Camden.

In addition, the Cooper endoscopy units in Mount Laurel, Willingboro, and Camden continue to be recognized by the American Society for Gastroenterology Endoscopy (ASGE) with an Endoscopic Unit Recognition Program (EURP) Certificate of Excellence Award.
