Today is Valentine's Day (for those of you who forgot until you read this—you're welcome).
The U.S. Census Bureau has released some fun and interesting facts relating to the day—and romance and love in general.
* There were 1,317 U.S. manufacturing establishments that produced chocolate and cocoa products in 2008, employing 38,369 people. California led the nation in the number of chocolate and cocoa manufacturing establishments, with 146. Pennsylvania was second, with 115.

* There were 422 U.S. manufacturing establishments that produced nonchocolate candy in 2008, employing 16,860 people.
* The chocolate-producing businesses shipped $12.2 billion worth of product in 2008, their nonchocolate counterparts $7.1 billion.

* There were 3,775 candy and nut stores in the U.S. in 2008.
* The average American consumed 24.3 pounds of candy in 2009.
* The combined wholesale value of domestically produced cut flowers in 2009 for all flower-producing operations with $100,000 or more in sales was $359 million—$18 million of which came from roses.
* There were 26,683 jewelry stores in the U.S. in 2008. Last February, those businesses sold $2.4 billion worth of merchandise.
* There were 2.1 million marriages in the U.S. in 2009—an average of nearly 5,800 per day. Of those, 108,150 took place in Nevada.
* The median ages of first marriage for men and women in 2010 were 28.2 and 26.1 years old, respectively.
* The percentage of adults who reported being married in 2010 was 54.1.
* The average length of first marriages that end in divorce is eight years, according to a 2004 Census Bureau survey.
* There were 393 dating services in the U.S. in 2007.
