Free Pets: Camden County Will Clear The Shelters Aug. 17
The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Camden County will waive adoption fees for animals at the shelter on Saturday, Aug. 17.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, formerly the Camden County Animal Shelter, will waive adoption fees on all animals in the shelter on Saturday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., county officials announced. It is part of the Clear the Shelters event, a nationwide adoption drive organized by NBC/Telemundo stations.
“Last year through this initiative, we were able to connect 87 pets with their new families and their new forever homes,” Camden County Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to Homeward Bound, said. “This year, we’re hoping to reach 100 pets or more. Ultimately, our mission is to see every one of these animals leave our facility and come under the care of a loving family.”
According to officials, the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center is the largest open admission shelter in the region, serving more than 5,000 abused, homeless and neglected animals each year.
It offers low-cost vaccinations for owned pets, spay/neuter surgeries for community cats, and works with local county officials to ensure the health and safety of homeless and feral companion animals.
