Gloucester Township Police Cancel Junior Academy For 2021

There will be no Gloucester Township Junior Police Academy this summer, the police department has announced.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — There will be no Gloucester Township Junior Police Academy this summer, the police department has announced.

“Our planning stages for this very popular program typically begins early in the calendar year,” the police department said in the announcement. “Early this year, the pandemic didn't appear to have an end in sight, and the vaccination distribution just began with unknown results, so the decision was made at that time to cancel it this year. Thank you for your understanding, and we're looking forward to the JPA next year and other upcoming events this summer.”

Restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic have begun to ease in recent weeks. Most recently, Gov. Phil Murphy announced the lifting of all indoor gathering and capacity limits, as well as restrictions related to dance floors at bars and restaurants.
