Gloucester Twp. Memorial Day Ceremony Plans Set
A ceremony will be held at Lt. Col. Samuel M. Siler Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 11 a.m. Monday.
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday morning at Lt. Col. Samuel M. Siler Veterans Memorial Park.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The keynote speaker for the ceremony will be New Jersey Army National Guard Col. Gerard R. Gagnon, commander of the state's National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, according to Cliff Griffiths, an Army veteran and member of Stetser-Lamartine American Legion Post No. 281.

Also scheduled to participate in the ceremony are the Timber Creek Regional High School marching band, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and members of local veterans organizations, including both American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts. Triton High School senior Ashley Matousek, president of the Runnemede school's chorale, is slated to sing.
Mayor David Mayer and members of the Township Council are also expected to attend the ceremony.

"It's good for the community," Siler, an Army veteran and a member of Gloucester Township Council, recently said of the Memorial Day service. "It helps for the young kids to instill patriotism and to know what's going on in the military."
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved inside the municipal building.
