Homeward Bound Pet Adoptions Are Now Made By Appointment Only

No walk-in visits will be permitted until it has been deemed safe that they may resume due to the outbreak of new coronavirus.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Gloucester Township has limited its hours to help prevent the spread of new coronavirus as of Monday, Camden County officials announced.

The shelter is now closed on Mondays, and will operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Families looking to adopt an animal will need to make an appointment. No walk-ins will be permitted until it has been deemed safe for walk-in visits to resume.

“We are balancing our mission to provide care to the animals in our community with the need to keep our employees and volunteers safe during this outbreak,” Camden County Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to Homeward Bound, said. “We’d like to encourage anyone staying home during this crisis, who is willing and able to foster a pet from our shelter, to consider doing so. Adoptions are much lower than we would typically expect, and our kennels are filling quickly. We thank you in advance for opening your hearts during this unprecedented period in history.”

Vet clinic services are also being offered by appointment only, and owners will be asked to wait outside until their animal’s appointment is finished.
