Make-A-Wish Delivers Hope, Strength & Joy To South Jersey Child

Nine-Year-Old With Critical Illness Wishes For A Gaming Computer - Wish Granted Thanks To Support of Jersey Mike's Subs

Make-A-Wish New Jersey recently granted the wish of a South Jersey child battling a life-threatening, critical illness. Nine-year-old Ian’s wish for a brand new, state-of-the-art gaming computer was granted thanks to the support of Jersey Mike’s Subs.

Over the past year, nine-year-old Ian, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has courageously faced blood and platelet transfusions, spinal taps with intrathecal chemo, chemo infusions, steroid pulses and daily oral chemo. The battle has not been easy on Ian, from missing much of school last year, to the struggles he faced with the many side effects from his treatment.

“Having a cancer diagnosis effects the entire family,” his parents Anthony and Gina shared. “This was a hard year for all of us. But we pulled together, and we’re getting through, day by day.”

Ian is now in the maintenance phase of his treatments and they have become less intense. He was beginning to feel like himself again and excited to get back to normal earlier this year. When the pandemic arrived, it affected him greatly. Ian is immune compromised, so his family must remain extra careful, and are unable to go many places. Looking for a way to connect with the friends he missed dearly, Ian wished for a gaming computer to play Fortnite and other video games online with them.

“Thank you Make-A-Wish, this has been an awesome experience,” his parents continued. “Thank you for all that you do to make sick kids’ days brighter. You have no idea how much this means to us.”

Ian’s wish was granted thanks to the support of Jersey Mike’s Subs and their partnership with Make-A-Wish. Now more than ever, Make-A-Wish New Jersey relies on the support of its loyal and generous community to help continue to deliver hope when it is needed most. Hope is cancelled.
