Martin Sports Complex Surveillance Leads to Vandalism Arrest

A 19-year-old Blackwood man was charged with driving a pickup truck on ball fields at Marge Martin Sports Complex at Lakeland.

A Blackwood man may have gotten away with driving his pickup truck on the football fields at Marge Martin Sports Complex if it wasn't for those darn security cameras there, according to Gloucester Township Police.

Video cameras at the Lakeland sports complex captured Kyle Chute, 19, spinning the wheels to his red 1994 Dodge Ram pickup truck, doing so-called "donuts" on the playing fields and causing deep ruts to the fields' turf, at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police announced Wednesday.

Township public works employees found the damage Monday morning and contacted police, who turned to the video surveillance system for answers.

The cameras recorded the license plate on the red Dodge pickup, leading police to Chute's home on the 100 block of East Court, Blackwood, where the vehicle was parked.

Chute was charged with criminal mischief and cited for reckless driving, and was released on a summons.
