New Jersey Chamber Orchestra Makes its Debut in Sewell Friday

Top-notch classical music without crossing the bridge!

Classical music fans in the Philadelphia region pining for superb live performances as the pandemic recedes are welcoming the arrival of the New Jersey Chamber Orchestra, New Jersey’s newest professional orchestra, taking the stage Friday, July 9, 2021 at 7 p.m. at The Music Barn’s indoor partner location, Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church in Sewell, NJ.

The NJCO is led by Music Director Thomas Hong, Artistic Director and Conductor of the University of Pennsylvania Orchestras. He brings together distinguished musicians from the greater Philadelphia area and beyond, among them:

The inaugural concert, during this season of re-openings and fresh starts, is “An American Dream: Music of Aaron Copland,” featuring iconic works by the composer in a program that the ensemble hopes will “encapsulate the hope, optimism and earnestness of the American spirit present in Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Tender Land Suite.”

NJCO makes its home this season at The Music Barn, an outdoor performance venue that since last fall has brought the Escher Quartet, Catalyst Quartet and Sybarite5 in concert to music lovers starved for live performance during the pandemic.

This week’s event has been moved INDOORS to Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church at 330 Greentree Road in Sewell, NJ 08080
