No Serious Injuries in Ambulance vs. Car Crash

The crash occurred in Glendora Monday afternoon.

No one was seriously injured in a traffic accident involving an ambulance and a small car in Glendora Monday afternoon, according to police.

The accident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Evesham Road and Central Avenue.

Gloucester Township Police reported that preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Neon traveling west on Evesham Road was struck by the Magnolia Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance, also traveling west on Evesham, as the car's driver attempted to make a left turn onto Central Avenue in front of the ambulance, which had its emergency lights and siren activated.

The accident shut down Evesham Road for about 20 minutes, police said.

A patient being transported in the Magnolia EMS ambulance at the time of the two-vehicle accident was transferred into a Gloucester Township EMS Alliance amublance and taken to Underwood-Memorial Hospital, in Woodbury.That patient did not sustain any injuries in the crash, police said.

Police identified a Magnolia EMT who sustained injuries in the crash as Furbie Ververelli, 44, of Magnolia. Ververelli, who was treating the patient in the ambulance, was taken to an unidentified area hospital for observation.

The Neon's driver, Joanne Gunita, 39, and passenger, a 16-year-old boy, both of Lillian Place, Glendora, were taken to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, for treatment of what police described as minor injuries.

No tickets were immediately issues, as the crash remains under investigation by police.
