Playoff Spots At Stake For Highland, Timber Creek Football Teams

Saturday is the cutoff, and two Black Horse Pike Regional School District football teams are in contention for the playoffs.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Saturday is the cutoff date for the high school football playoffs, and two of the three Black Horse Pike Regional School District teams are in contention for playoff spots.

This year’s playoff format incorporates power points and strength index to come up with a team’s power ranking. For an explanation of the new playoff system, visit nj.com.

According to Gridiron New Jersey, Highland is currently the No. 2 seed in NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4. The Tartans are 5-2 with 18.43 power points and a strength index of 58.9. Shawnee (6-2) is No. 1, and it’s practically impossible to figure out what impact this weekend’s results will have on the standings.

Timber Creek is No. 5 in NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3. The Chargers are 4-3 with 16.71 power points and a strength index of 56.65. Triton is No. 24, and looks to be out of the playoff race with a record of 2-5, 6.71 power points and a strength index of 32.38.
