RUNNEMEDE, NJ — The return of the football season has not only lifted the spirits of fans across the country, but it has also helped at least one local business.

One week before the NFL kicked off its season, Gov. Phil Murphy announced that restaurants and bars could reopen inside with a limited capacity of 25 people or 25 percent of the establishment’s total capacity.

This has been one of the things that helped the Phily Diner and Sports Bar, 31 South Black Horse Pike in Runnemede, the owners told Patch.

“So far we are doing well, and we are really happy to see customers inside again,” the restaurant’s owners told Patch. “We are still offering outdoor dining on our patio and tent areas as well as the indoor dining. What's been most exciting is having business as usual (while adhering to social distancing of course) for Sunday football since the bar is open again.”

The restaurant has a large space between the diner and bar and the outdoor areas, so it is able to accommodate a lot of patrons, even with the limited capacity, the owners said.

“We are hoping limitations will be raised to 50 percent soon, so we can have even more customers back and be able to hold large private events through the upcoming holiday season,” they said.
