Timber Creek Advances, Highland Falls In Football Playoffs

Timber Creek escaped with a 1-point win in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3 playoffs, according to nj.com.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Dior Boyd’s interception on an attempted two-point conversion sealed the Timber Creek Regional High School football team’s 27-26 win over Raritan and helped send it on to the next round of the playoffs.

The third-seeded Chargers defeated No. 6 Raritan to advance to the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3 playoffs, according to Gridiron New Jersey. Timber Creek will visit No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven in the semifinals on Friday night, Nov. 15, 7 p.m.

Quarterback Donovan Leary threw three touchdown passes, according to nj.com. Leary and his brother Devin, now a quarterback at North Carolina State, now hold the state record for passing yards by a brother duo.

Marcus James caught two touchdown passes and James Houston caught the other, according to MaxPreps. Tarheeb Still had 107 receiving yards. Elijah Williams ran for 140 yards and a touchdown.

Highland Regional also competed in the playoffs on Friday night. The third-seeded Tartans fell to No. 6 Long Branch, 33-3, in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to Gridiron New Jersey. Highland will visit Triton in their season finale on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, 10 a.m.
