Timber Creek High School Falls In Football Semifinals

Timber Creek fell to Rumson-Fair Haven in the semifinals of the Central Jersey Group 3 playoffs Friday night.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Timber Creek Regional High School football team’s quest for a championship has come to an end.

The third-seeded Chargers fell to No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven, 16-9, in the semifinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3 playoffs on Friday, according to Gridiron New Jersey. Rumson-Fair Haven will play top-seeded Wall in the championship game.

Rumson-Fair Haven jumped out to a 10-3 lead, but Timber Creek cut the lead to one point on a Jalen Gibson-Greene 1-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter, according to nj.com. Rumson-Fair Haven blocked the point after touchdown, and scored a late touchdown to secure the win. Quarterback Donovan Leary was 18-for-30 for 173 yards in the loss.

Timber Creek is now 6-4 and will wrap up its season at home against Winslow on Thanksgiving. The game will kick off at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28.
