The Gloucester Township website is run by me, Sean McCullen, in my role as local editor, but will feature contributions from our dedicated team of freelance contributors—and you!
That's right: Patch users can add events to our community calendar—for free—comment on stories and even upload videos or photographs onto the site. Your brother or neighbor might even be one of our regular contributors.
The news industry has undergone significant change over the last two decades. Cable news stations have emerged as a prominent source of information for many Americans. Traditional newspapers are struggling to stay alive. The blogosphere has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, with anyone with an Internet connection and a few spare minutes seemingly willing and able to offer their views on anything and everything. Many find all they need to know on websites that didn't exist at the turn of the century—Facebook and Twitter.
At Patch.com, professionalism is of utmost importance. We strive to provide unbiased, balanced news coverage and to give equal space to opinions across the political spectrum.
I come to Patch.com after more than eight years with The News of Cumberland County (formerly the Bridgeton News), where I covered a variety of topics, including government, crime, development and high-school sports. I am a graduate of Temple University, with a bachelor's degree in communications/journalism.
While not a Gloucester Township resident, I am a lifelong South Jersey resident, and I like to think I know what makes us tick as South Jerseyans.
So, if you see me or one of our Patch.com freelancers at the next government or school board meeting or high school sporting event, don't hesitate to come up to us, say hello and offer your thoughts on what we can do to make GloucesterTownship.Patch.com the best website it can be.
Enjoy!
