Investigators determined that multiple people kicked in her front door and entered her home that night.

It's unclear whether authorities have established a motive, or whether the suspects intentionally targeted Mosley. Patch contacted law enforcement with questions and will update when additional information becomes available.

All four suspects are in the Cumberland County Jail as of Monday. Brown and Mutcherson were both booked Oct. 19, Pimental on Oct. 21 and Willis on Oct. 22, according to jail records. But it's unclear when any of the suspects were charged with murder or any other offenses in the case.

Since the killing of Mosley was announced, investigators have been tight-lipped. In the hours after the shooting, police detained a person for questioning at Cooper University Hospital in Camden who was being treated for a gunshot wound. Investigators have not revealed any further information about the individual.

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office has been leading the investigation, since the incident directly involved a member of the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

"This is a significant step toward justice for Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley and her family," Jeffrey H. Sutherland, Cape May County's prosecutor, said in a statement. "We are resolute in our commitment to ensuring that those responsible for this horrific act are held accountable."

Mutcherson, Brown and Willis were each charged with the following:

  • first-degree murder (purposely and/or knowingly causing death)
  • first-degree murder during the commission of burglary
  • second-degree burglary
  • second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon
  • second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
  • second-degree certain person not to possess a weapon
  • third-degree hindering apprehension
  • fourth-degree obstruction of justice

Pimental was charged with hindering an investigation (third-degree), obstruction of justice (fourth-degree) and tampering with evidence (fourth-degree).

Pimental was accused of driving a vehicle "used in the commission of the crime" that was registered to her, which she drove from New Jersey from Philadelphia, according to NJ.com. She drove with a passenger whose name was redacted from her criminal complaint.

The assailants used the vehicle ? a black 2012 Chevy Equinox registered to Pimentel ? according to NJ.com. But she has not been accused of driving it during the alleged break-in and murder.

Mosley joined the prosecutor's office in 2006 as a paralegal specialist. She became a county detective three years later.

A GoFundMe for Mosley's family was launched last week.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on this case can contact the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office at 609-465-1135 or anonymously at cmcpros.net/tips.

State and Bridgeton police are assisting in the investigation. The FBI and other federal agencies have also contributed.
