Barrington Man Made Threats Over Rite Aid Coronavirus Tests: AG

A Barrington man threatened to run over anyone who went to Rite Aid for coronavirus testing with his car, authorities said.

BARRINGTON, NJ — A South Jersey man was arrested for threatening to run over anyone who went to the Rite Aid in Barrington to be tested for new coronavirus, authorities said on Monday.

“I’m gonna run you all over with my SUV if I see anyone getting tested,” 30-year-old Jacob M. Carr said in a message posted in the Barrington parents’ Facebook group, according to Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police.

The other Barrington residents became panicked and called police, according to authorities. Even though Carr used a fake social media account to post the message, Barrington police were able to find and arrest him, authorities said.

Carr was apparently angry about the launch of coronavirus testing at the Rite Aid at 501 Clements Bridge Road in Barrington. Read more here: Rite Aid To Perform Coronavirus Testing At South Jersey Store

The testing site, which was set to open on Monday, will make use of self-swab tests, administered in the store's parking lot and overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists. Rite Aid expects to be able to conduct more than 200 tests daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Those being tested will remain in their cars throughout the duration of testing. Patients are required to provide government issued identification, be at least 18 years old and need to pre-register online at www.riteaid.com in order to schedule a time slot for testing.
