A Code Blue Weather Emergency that was in effect for Camden County this week has been extended, officials announced on Friday.
CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — A Code Blue Weather Emergency that was in effect for Camden County this week has been extended, officials announced on Friday. The alert will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday morning; 7 p.m. Saturday night until 7 a.m. Sunday morning; and from 7 p.m. Sunday night until 7 a.m. Monday morning.
“Current forecasts are calling for temperatures below freezing each night this weekend with wind chills dipping into the teens,” Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services, said. “When temperatures reach this low, it is important to check on elderly relatives and neighbors, and to ensure that they are warm and safe. Even inside, cold conditions can quickly become dangerous for vulnerable populations, especially those who lack heat or electricity.”
When the Camden County Health Officer declares a Code Blue, municipalities with homeless populations, situational homeless or transient populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to accommodate their immediate needs.
