Follow The Thanksgiving Day Football Games With Haddon Patch

There’s still one thing left to be settled: who’s the best football team in town? Thanksgiving Day is synonymous with high school football, and Haddonfield and Haddon Township are both in action this morning.

Haddonfield will continue its storied rivalry with Haddon Heights this morning at 11 a.m.
The Thanksgiving Day football game has been a tradition since 1902, and has been played every year since 1922. Haddonfield leads the series, 61-42, with six ties.

It was featured among the best high school football rivalries in America by Sports Illustrated. Matt Chando, of NJ Advance Media, described the annual game as "exactly the reason high school football is played. It is teamwork and community personified. And all of it is set against the fall foliage, crisp air and confluence of two Rockwellesque communities. On a day we're all meant to give thanks, this game is a true blessing."

Haddonfield comes into this year’s game with a record of 7-3. The Bulldawgs advanced to the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs before falling to Hillside, 35-0. Haddon Heights is 5-5 overall.

Haddon Township will host Audubon at 11 a.m. The Hawks bring a record of 6-3 into this year’s game. They fell to Willingboro in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 1 playoffs, according to nj.com. Audubon is 2-6 overall and has won the last five matchups in the rivalry, according to nj.com.
