Former Phillies Pitcher Mitch Williams Launches New Podcast In NJ

Mitch Williams' "Unleashed" podcast was set to debut at noon on Monday and can be heard online.

Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams is returning to the airwaves with his “Unleashed” podcast. While much of the subject matter will center around sports, primarily baseball, everything is on the table in terms of content to discuss, debate and resolve.

The first episode was set for noon Monday, and will include celebrity sports guests and allow for listener call-in. Listen in at www.wildfirepodcasts.com. The show is a partnership between Williams and Wildfire Podcasting.

“I can’t wait to get started. I have so much to say, and Wildfire is giving me the outlet to say it. My show will be raw and uncensored and a lotta fun.” said Williams. “History has shown that I never shy away from controversy and I plan to share a lot of background information about the sports world in general. Every episode will be an eye-opener.”

“We are thrilled to have Mitch behind the mic,” Wildfire Podcasting co-owner Jim Grasso said. “He will be a great asset and with him, we also are creating the Mitch Williams Podcast Network, which we hope will give every show on the network a chance to succeed and grow with national sponsors interested and aware of Mitch’s draw.”

Williams played for six teams from 1986 to 1997, and is best remembered locally for giving up a walk-off home run to Joe Carter in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series, costing the Phillies a championship and allowing the Blue Jays to win their second straight World Series title.

Wildfire Podcasting is also looking for a co-host to share the mic with Williams. No radio announcing or DJ experience necessary, but is welcome. Currently, the position is unpaid but is a great opportunity for anyone to break into the sports announcing field and learn from a pro like Williams.

Interested candidates should send a 5-minute demo tape if they have one, to auditions@wfgnj.com. If selected, you will be contacted for an individual interview with Mr. Williams and the Wildfire staff.
