Haddonfield 65 Club Meets Via Zoom, Seeks Members Amid Pandemic
Haddonfield 65 Club meetings continue to be held via Zoom every Thursday at 1:30 p.m., and the club is seeking new members.
HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield 65 Club continues to connect retired men in Haddonfield despite not being able to meet in person.
The club usually meets at its clubhouse at 110 Rhoads Avenue and more recently at the borough hall. However, due to restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic and the dangers the virus presents to older residents, the club is unable to meet in person.
However, meetings continue to be held via Zoom every Thursday at 1:30 p.m., and the club is seeking new members.

“Our meetings are replete with excellent, prominent, informative, entertaining speakers who provide our members and guests the opportunity to listen, learn and inquire, in addition to providing great fellowship and even a few colorful stories and/or jokes,” the club said in its announcement. “If you are looking for the perfect holiday gift for the retired man or a grandfather who has everything or is hard to buy for, look no further than a membership in the Haddonfield 65 Club. Yearly membership dues are $20, an incredible bargain at 37 cents per week.”

As of Wednesday, Haddonfield has had 230 cases of the coronavirus and five deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. Countywide, 19,988 residents have tested positive and 615 residents have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
At the county's 56 long-term care facilities, 1,710 residents and 812 staff members have tested positive, with 360 resident deaths. Three staff members have also died.
But with pharmaceutical companies working on vaccines for the virus, many are hopeful the pandemic will be over soon. At that point, the Haddonfield 65 Club will resume in-person meetings.
It will resume its activities that include Bridge on Mondays; trips on Tuesdays; Tai Chi and Pinochle on Wednesdays; meetings on Thursdays; bowling on Fridays; and golf in spring through the fall at nine local courses.
Annual special events include a Spring Luncheon at Tavistock CC; a Wine & Cheese Party; a Holiday Party; participation in Haddonfield’s 4th of July Parade; Salvation Army Red Kettle collections in the holiday season; volunteering and contributions to local charities.
“We have fun and apparently, some wives enjoy getting their husbands out of the house to attend our events!,” the club said.
